Press about Maya:
"Summoning the 1980s Minneapolis funk of Prince and Janet Jackson." -
The New York Times
"It's really great, upbeat electro-funk that gets in your head and stays there." -
"The big-haired bass player from across the lake has a funky, electro-pop sound" -
"We love it! Prepare to be transported to a more carefree and fab time!"
"...the bassist peppers each track with a number of moving parts: spiky bass lines, crackling synths, and innuendo-filled vocals that would make the Purple One himself blush" -
"Ensconced in the textures of Minneapolis’ kings of sophisticated funk." -
"This glamorous, leggy Norwegian singer and bass player is somehow unknown in the U.S., which is odd because her best songs, including “Bummer Gun” and “On It (Kapow!),” have a funky electronic eccentricity that recalls the 1980s smashes Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis concocted for the S.O.S. Band, Alexander O’Neal and Janet Jackson." -
Playboy Music Guide
"If you ever wondered what Prince's girl group Vinity 6 or muse Apollonia, would sound like today, there's an enigmatic Norwegian songstress by the name of Maya Vik that might satisfy your curiousity" -
